Privacy Policy
Our full Privacy Policy is being finalised. This page is a placeholder while we complete our legal review. The summary below describes how we handle your data today.
Your chat messages are about your health, so we treat them as sensitive. We ask for your clear consent before you create an account. You can withdraw it by deleting your account at any time.
We save your conversations and our answers to your account. You can reopen a chat and pick up where you left off. We keep them until you delete them. We do not feed one conversation into another. PainPal has no memory across chats, and we do not build a profile of you.
A small number of people can read your questions and parts of our answers. That is our founder, Josh, and a handful of clinical reviewers. They use an internal review dashboard. They read to check the quality of our answers and to decide what research to add. Your chats are health information, so we keep that group small and we are telling you plainly that it happens.
We do not train AI models on your conversations. Our AI providers, Anthropic, Groq and OpenAI, are not permitted to train on them either. To answer you, your messages are sent to those providers in the United States. They may hold the content for up to 30 days for trust and safety, then delete it. We do not sell your data.
Delete a conversation and it is gone for good. Its messages and our stored copy of your questions go with it. Delete your account from Settings and everything goes, straight away, with nothing held back. The one thing we cannot pull back is the AI providers’ 30 day window above. If a message suggests a crisis, we show you support contacts in the chat. We do not store that message or that answer at all.
